California Insurance Diversity Survey

CAIDS LogoThe California Insurance Diversity Survey (CAIDS) is a biennial survey administered by the California Department of Insurance, pursuant to California Insurance Code section 927 et seq. The CAIDS promotes transparency and accountability in California's insurance industry by collecting data from California-admitted insurance companies on governing board diversity, supplier diversity programs, and spending with  businesses owned by women, LGBTQ+ individuals, persons with disabilities, veterans, disabled veterans, and historically underrepresented communities.

Data from the CAIDS produces statewide insights through tools such as the California Insurance Diversity IndexEconomic Impact Report, and diversity factsheets (below).

Since the CAIDS began, insurer spending with diverse suppliers has increased more than 230%, reaching $3.1 billion in reported diverse spend and generating an estimated $6.7 billion in total economic impact for California’s economy.
