Enforcement Bureaus
There are four Enforcement Bureaus within the Legal Branch that protect policy holders, consumers, and the California insurance marketplace.
The Enforcement Bureaus ensure that producers and insurers comply with the California Insurance Code and other laws and regulations that apply to the business of insurance. The Rate Enforcement Bureau oversees the provisions of Proposition 103 and other laws pertaining to the availability and affordability of insurance and to the rate and underwriting practices. The Enforcement Bureaus litigate enforcement actions against insurance companies, producers, and others conducting insurance business in California.
