Search for Market Conduct Examination Reports
The California Department of Insurance conducts examinations of licensed insurance companies to evaluate insurers' compliance with the California Insurance Code (CIC) and the California Code of Regulations (CCR) with respect to rating, underwriting, and claim practices. These are called market conduct examinations.
Market conduct examination reports document the findings of the examiners. The reports posted here identify any alleged violations of CIC Section 790.03 [the Unfair Practices Act - Prohibited Acts] discovered during the examinations, and summarize actions taken by the insurers to correct alleged non-compliant practices. Insurer comments provided in response to these reports, if any, are also posted here. Reports and insurer comments posted on or after July 1, 2001 are generally available. If you cannot find what you are looking for please contact the Department's Custodian of Records.
