Fraud Division Investigator Careers

Picture of Detective badge

The California Department of Insurance, Enforcement Branch is hiring the best and the brightest college graduates and current or retired law enforcement officers to join our team of Investigators (Detectives). The Enforcement Branch has a widely respected history of protecting the residents of California from economic loss and distress by investigating, arresting and referring for prosecution, those who commit insurance fraud and other related crimes.

Whether you’re just starting your career in law enforcement, or looking to expand your expertise, we have an Investigator opportunity for you! In our efforts to fight fraud, our teams of Investigators conduct criminal investigations of felony violations of State and Federal law relating to insurance fraud and white-collar crime, often in collaboration with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and provide outreach and training to the public and private sector to raise awareness of insurance fraud and the impact of these crimes. As sworn peace officers, applicants must possess eligibility for the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic or Specialized Certificate and are authorized and expected to interview witnesses and suspects, write and serve search warrants, execute felony arrests, conduct undercover and surveillance operations, write detailed investigative reports, and work with prosecuting agencies.

The Enforcement Branch offers positions statewide within nine regional offices, alternative work schedules, education and bilingual skills incentive pay, a CalPERS safety retirement, health/dental/vision benefits, unique training opportunities and task force and specialty assignments.
