Advisory - Commissioner Jones participates in GCAS 2018 and PRI in Person during climate week

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones is speaking and participating in climate change conferences and events in San Francisco throughout the week, including the Governor's Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) and the Principles for Responsible Investing's PRI in Person investment conference.

Jones will discuss actions and initiatives he has taken with regard to climate risk and insurance, including leading the administration of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' Climate Risk Disclosure Survey, his Climate Risk Carbon Initiative, his first-in-nation stress test analysis of insurance company investment portfolios, his international work with the Sustainable Insurance Forum, and his recently released report titled Trial by Fire: Managing Climate Risks Facing Insurers in the Golden State.

Commissioner Jones will speak at PRI in Person on a panel titled "Obligations to Curb GHG Emissions: Discussing the Principles on Climate Obligations of Enterprises and the Liability Risk" along with legal experts on the liability potential of failing to reduce emissions at 7:30 a.m. Jones will also speak on the panel titled "Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures: How to use climate scenarios?" along with experts in sustainable investing at 10:15 a.m.

Commissioner Jones will attend the GCAS morning plenary starting at 9 a.m. At the GCAS, Jones will also attend the panel "The Investor Agenda: Accelerating Action for a Low-Carbon World" at 1:30 p.m., the panel "Creating a Just Transition: Decent Jobs and Climate Action" at 2:45 p.m., and the panel "Innovative Finance for Climate, Resilience, and Energy Access" at 4 p.m.
