Advisory - Insurance Commissioner releases first insurance loss data for 2018 wildfires

Jones also announces new report on how climate change contributes to fire losses

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones is releasing the first data on the total insurance claims reported for residential and commercial losses following the Carr and Mendocino Complex wildfires. Commissioner Jones will also release updated data for the 2017 California wildfires and 2018 mudslides.

Additionally, Commissioner Jones will announce a new report created by the California Department of Insurance and climate policy experts that examines the challenges and opportunities associated with climate risk, climate change, and insurance. The report also shows how climate change is a contributor to fire losses in California.
