Effective January 1, 2011, California's fire and casualty broker-agent licensing laws were changed to establish two new license types, a property broker-agent license and a casualty broker-agent license. These license types are available to both individuals and business entities.
When an initial application is made to the California Department of Insurance, applicants may apply for a "property and casualty broker-agent license" by selecting both the property broker-agent and casualty broker-agent license types on their application. Applicants checking both the property broker-agent and casualty broker-agent license types on the application will pay one filing fee and will take one examination for both license types.
