International Commission

The International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims (ICHEIC) was established in August 1998 with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. ICHEIC ceased operations in March 2007.

ICHEIC was comprised of US and European insurance regulator, some European insurers, representatives of Jewish and survivor organizations and the State of Israel.

ICHEIC meetings were closed to the public.

ICHEIC developed rules, standards and procedures whereby its member insurers evaluated claims.

The deadline for filing an ICHEIC claim was December 31, 2003. ICHEIC insurers have pledged to continue to process claims after ICHEIC's closing. Contact Beverly Brand at the Department of Insurance for assistance with such claims.
