Commissioner Jones Lauds Supreme Court decisions on gay marriage rights
News: 2013 Press Release
SACRAMENTO - Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones today praised the Supreme Court's decisions that affirmed equal rights under the U.S. Constitution.
"Today's Supreme Court rulings at last bring equal treatment under the law for Californians and those who live in other states that have marriage equality laws," said Jones. "These are important civil rights victories and we can all celebrate the fact that members of the LGBT community in an ever increasing number of states will no longer be denied equal treatment in marriage. Again and at last, gay and lesbian couples will soon be able to marry in California and they will no longer be denied the protections of federal tax laws or Social Security when they do."
