Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones honored by CA Hospital Association for leadership in government
News: 2013 Press Release
SACRAMENTO - The California Hospital Association presented Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones with a resolution in recognition of his leadership in healthcare policy while serving as a member of the California Assembly from 2004-2010 and as insurance commissioner since 2011.
The resolution specifically notes two pieces of legislation authored by Jones and co-authored by Senator Alquist that were particularly important to healthcare policy. AB 1383, signed into law in October 2009, increased matching supplemental Medi-Cal payments to hospitals and has resulted in bringing billions in federal reimbursement to the state. AB 188 provided necessary appropriations for the Department of Healthcare Services in seeking federal approval and implementation of AB 1383.
"I am honored by the Hospital Association's recognition. Healthcare policy has long been a priority for me," said Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. "As our state moves forward in implementing healthcare reform, I am committed to ensuring we are able to deliver on the promise of improved access to healthcare for millions of uninsured Californians."
