Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones Announces Arrest of Registered Nurse for Insurance Fraud
RN Former Patient of Beverly Hills Dentist Also Recently Arrested

Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones today announced that Marti Anne Quinn, 49, a registered nurse has been taken into custody on three felony counts for violating Penal Code Section 550 (b), Insurance Fraud and Penal Code Section 487, Grand Theft. Bail has been set at $25,000. If convicted, Quinn faces up to three years in state prison.

On June 9, 2010, the California Department of Insurance (CDI), Fraud Division, received a suspected Fraudulent Claim Referral from an insurer alleging that Beverly Hills Medical Suite (BHMS), a dental office, was submitting fraudulent medical bills for emergency dental work that was not provided to patients. During the insurer's investigation, they discovered a claim for one of their employees, Quinn, a nurse case manager. 

CDI Detectives found that Quinn received $11,860 from the insurer for the fraudulent claim filed by BHMS. Quinn was reportedly hit in the mouth with a tennis racquet and was treated at BHMS where she required eight crowns on her lower front teeth. The investigation revealed that the accident never happened and Quinn did not receive the treatment claimed. 

On May 3, 2012, an arrest warrant was issued by the Los Angeles Superior Court for Quinn and she was taken into custody at her residence in Agoura Hills and later booked at the Los Angeles County Women's Jail.

This investigation was conducted with the assistance of Anthem Blue Cross. The case is being prosecuted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office under their Workers' Compensation Healthcare and Disability Program.
