California Department of Insurance Hires New Director for California Program Seeking Insurer Investments In Underserved Communities

Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones today announced the hiring of Stacie Olivares-Castain as Managing Director of the California Organized Investment Network (COIN), California's insurance industry program that seeks prudent investments with competitive yields, and positive economic, social and environmental returns for California's underserved communities.
Prior to joining COIN, Stacie previously managed investments at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. She formerly served as the Executive Director of the State of California's Commission for Economic Development, and managed licensing and business development for Palm, Inc.
Stacie serves on the boards of two clean technology companies, Nila and OnGreen, and also on two nonprofit boards, the Harvard Club of Southern California and the Latino Business Chamber of Greater Los Angeles. She is an alumna of the University of California at Berkeley and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
The California Department of Insurance, established in 1868, is the largest consumer protection agency in California. Insurers collect $259 billion in premiums annually in California.
