Insurance Commissioner Jones Issues Statement on Slaying of Louisiana Investigators
Louisiana insurance fraud investigators killed in the line of duty
California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones issued the following statement today on the slaying of two Louisiana Fraud Investigators:
"I wish to convey my condolences to the Louisiana Department of Insurance and the families and friends of these investigators who were tragically killed in the line of duty," said Commissioner Jones. "Insurance fraud investigators perform an important public service that can be very dangerous and is all too often overlooked by the public at large."
According to authorities in Louisiana, the pair were investigating a case of insurance fraud and were shot and killed during the course of collecting case information from an agent in Ville Platte. The shootings are being investigated by the Louisiana State Police.
"I truly appreciate the dedication and service of CDI's Investigators in our Fraud and Investigations Division," added Commissioner Jones. "These dedicated men and women are put in harms way day in and day out. They have my utmost respect and gratitude."
