New general counsel appointed by Insurance Commissioner Jones
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones announced the appointment of Ken Schnoll as General Counsel for the California Department of Insurance. Schnoll brings more than 30 years' experience to his new role, including work in regulatory and transactional matters with health insurers and property-casualty insurers.

"Given all of the regulatory and legal issues that are a part of the Department's ongoing regulation of insurance companies and insurance markets, Ken's tremendous knowledge and expertise gleaned from over 30 years' experience in the insurance industry will serve us all well," said Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.

Schnoll leaves behind a successful practice as a partner at Dentons US LLP where he focused on insurance regulation and health care practices. Prior to that, Schnoll was a partner with Le Boeuf, Lamb, Green and MacRae. During the course of his career he has gathered extensive legal expertise relevant to his new role at the department, including drafting legislation and appearing before legislative committees to testify and participate on both the state and federal rulemaking process.

"I'm looking forward to joining Commissioner Jones and his team to take on the tough issues facing California's insurance market," said Ken Schnoll.

Schnoll is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the McGeorge School of Law.

The department's previous General Counsel, John Finston, recently left the Department to return to private practice. Finston's work on behalf of the department and California's consumers was meaningful and deeply appreciated.
