Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Insurance Innovation Website (“website”) is provided by the Department of Insurance (“CDI”) as a service to people and companies with questions for CDI about how regulatory requirements might affect new products or services.  There is no legal requirement to use this website.  Information is collected pursuant to limitations contained in the Information Practices Act of 1977, SAM 5300, et seq., SIMM 5305, et seq., and other applicable state and federal laws.

Providing Personal Information is Voluntary

You do not have to provide personal information on this website.  However, if you do not provide contact information, CDI will not be able to respond to your inquiry.  Wherever possible, CDI recommends the use of business contact information (i.e.: business phone number, address, and/or e-mail), rather than personal contact information.  Please DO NOT include unrequested personal information, such as Social Security Numbers, Driver’s License Numbers, or credit card or financial information.

Information Provided to CDI Is Confidential

All information you provide to us will be treated as a confidential communication under California Insurance Code Section 12919.  We will not disclose any information to any person outside CDI, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.

Possible Disclosure of Personal Information

We may share your information with other government agencies as required by law.  Additionally, CDI may use contact information submitted on this website to inform you of upcoming insurance innovation events and workshops.
