In January 2010 the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Fraud Division began an investigation into allegations that Richard Lopez Villalpondo, sole owner of R.L. Villalpondo, F.L.C., a farm labor contracting business was committing Workers' Compensation Insurance Premium Fraud. Villalpondo is a licensed farm labor contractor operating out of Bakersfield, California providing seasonal labor in cotton, orchards, truck farms and growers.
On March 16, 2012, Gregory Jay Magedman, 67, of Orange, was sentenced to 365 days in Orange County Jail after pleading guilty to one felony count of Grand Theft. Magedman was also placed on supervised probation for five years and ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined.
On December 9, 2011, an Administrative Law Judge ordered the revocation of all licensing rights of Daniel D. Gonzalez. This decision was based upon the Court's finding that Gonzalez had mishandled premiums in violation of California Insurance Code (CIC) sections 1733 and 1734, and committed multiple violations of CIC section 1668, which governs the general business practices of licensed insurance agents. On February 28, 2012, Barbara Lianne Armstrong Petersen, 46, was arraigned in Orange County Superior Court on three felony charges for violating Penal Code Section115, Filing False Documents, and one felony charge for violating Penal Code Section 487, Grand Theft.
On February 29, 2012, Lake County Judge Richard C. Martin sentenced Glenn Neasham, 52, of Hidden Valley Lakes to three years felony probation and 90 days in jail. This sentencing comes after Neasham was arrested on December 14, 2010, for violating Penal Code Section 368(d) Theft and Embezzlement of an elder. Subsequent to Neasham's arrest there was a jury trial on September 21, 2011 in which Neasham was found guilty by twelve Lake County jurors.
