The Auto Premium Survey (APS) or comparison tool is based upon several scenarios, hypothetical risks, or profiles/examples which take into account the most common variables used by an insurance company to calculate sample automobile insurance premiums. Insurance companies in the Auto Premium Survey (APS) reviewed specific insurance coverage, profiles/examples, driving records, and vehicle(s) to provide their respective sample auto premiums for the survey.

• For the Auto Profiles, Basic Liability Only and Standard coverage were used; as for the Motorcycle Profiles, Basic Liability Only coverage was used.
• If the company had any explanations or clarifications regarding their sample auto and/or motorcycle premiums, they reported it on the consumer Footnotes report.
• If the company had any auto credits and/or discounts that are also available upon request, then they reported it on the Credits and Discounts report.
